About Us

Our Story

Monday Underground was born in April 2021 with an initial turn out of just three runners who wanted to keep running together through the winter.
Since then, we've grown hugely and winter Monday nights attract up to 200 runners to our friendly and free 5km run and walk.
The Monday Underground crew is also now the custodian of the long-running Northcote Tavern summer fun run and walk (operating since 1999).
It's a slightly-more challenging 5km course which weaves around the streets of Northcote Point, but brings everyone back to the Northcote Tavern for fun, friendly vibes and great spot prizes in the Tavern's legendary Garden Bar. So you can run or walk with us year round - we are here every Monday, regardless of weather and (usually) public holidays and all are welcome, regardless of how fast or slow you want to go.
Walkers start at 6.10pm, joggers at 6.20pm, and runners at 6.30pm, with a short safety briefing before each start.
In summer, just register at the Northcote Tavern Garden Bar from 5.45pm - casual entries are $4 adults or $3 children (cash, paywave or bank transfer), or ask about a season pass.
The winter season is free - just meet outside the front door of the Northcote Tavern on Queen Street. Please wear bright colours or borrow one of our hi-viz vests. We also sometimes organise weekend group runs, post-event gatherings, our Monday Underground Sunday Brunch 10km, and discounts for major races.
