About Us

Monday Underground was born in April 2021 out of the long-running Northcote Tavern summer fun run and walk, with the simple idea to keep running through the winter but on a flatter and better-lit course.  From an initial week one turn-out of just three runners, we are now regularly attracting upwards of 80 runners and walkers and, some weeks, over 100. We attract people of all ages and abilities who enjoy a non-competitive run and a pint afterwards, plus our eye-catching Monday Underground merchandise. The Monday Underground crew also now organises the Northcote Tavern summer fun run and walk, which has been operating since 1999. This is a slightly more challenging 5km course but is more than made up for by the fun, friendly vibes, spot prizes and a summer’s evening spent languishing with friends and beer in Northcote Tavern’s legendary Garden Bar.
